    Fauquier Education Foundation and
    Taylor Historical Society Host
    “Taylor Day” on November 1
Public Invited to Celebratory Event at Fauquier High School

Warrenton, VA—The Fauquier Education Foundation (FEF), in partnership with the Taylor Historical Society (an alumni group from the original Taylor High School), are co-hosting “Taylor Day” on November 1 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Fauquier High School auditorium. The public is warmly invited to attend this celebratory event that will raise awareness about the legacy of William C. Taylor and the schools that bore and continue to bear his name, including Taylor High School, Taylor Junior High School, and Taylor Middle School.

For nearly two decades, W.C. Taylor High School stood as a pillar of education, resilience, and community for Black students across Fauquier County. Built in 1952 and named in honor of esteemed educator William C. Taylor, the school provided a rigorous academic experience, a vibrant arts and music program, and a deep sense of belonging for its students—despite the challenges of segregation.

The celebration will begin with a program that includes a welcome by NAACP Fauquier president Conway Porter, a Taylor High School Class of 1963 graduate. The Reverend Tyrone Green of Hearts Delight Baptist Church in Catlett will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event, which will feature selections performed by current Taylor Middle School orchestra members; a keynote address by Reverend Ralph Williams of Mt. Morris Baptist Church in Hume; remarks by Dr. Major Warner, Fauquier County Public Schools’ superintendent; a performance of “America” by several Taylor High School classmates; and more. The program concludes with light refreshments served in the atrium.

Taylor Day will also shine a light on the Taylor Legacy Commission project, a multi-faceted effort to sustain the school’s legacy when it reopens in 2028. Project goals include preserving historical memory, celebrating a rich heritage, and inspiring future generations of students. This event is free and open to the public. The Fauquier Education Foundation and Taylor Historical Society are grateful to the PATH Foundation for the Better Together Fund contribution in support of Taylor Day.
